That after considering information from the feasibility studies completed to date, and the requirements of the funders, Ministry of Education and Child Care and BC Housing, Council acknowledges: a. The long-term commitment for the District of Sechelt to own and operate a child care facility for a minimum of 20 years with a non-profit child care operator; and b. The affordable housing units will be owned by BC Housing and operated by the Sunshine Coast Affordable Housing Society. 2. That Council directs staff to: a. Proceed with the Child Care and Affordable Housing Project including up to 40 subsidized rental housing units at 6000 Lighthouse Avenue; and b. Execute the \"Child Care Capital Funding Program - Childcare BC New Spaces Fund - Funding Agreement\" for funding from the Ministry of Education and Child Care in the amount of $5,463,000; and c. Transfer funding from Ministry of Education and Child Care, less $100,000 reserved for furnishing before and after school spaces, to BC Housing; and 3. That these resolutions and this staff report be released to the public. July 8, 2026 - Resolution No. 2026-07-08CM-A02 That the Sechelt Accessibility Working Group Terms of Reference be amended to include a maximum of nine voting members, instead of seven. 1. That Council appoints the following members to the Sechelt Accessibility Working Group for a two-year term: o Bina Berger o Joelle Blanchette o Bill Conway o Ellen Eaton o Lynne Forrest o Jaksamal Prasad o Sam Riesco o Donovan Whistler 2.
