Best Plumbing Marketing Agencies 2026: 9 Companies Compared

Agencies below are listed alphabetically, not ranked. Zio Advertising publishes this page and is a marketing agency serving the trades; our own entry sits at the end, clearly disclosed, outside the alphabetical order.

“Plumber near me” gets searched 823,000 times a month in the US, per Google's Keyword Planner (October 2026), and the top-of-page bid for “emergency plumber” runs $34.19 to $153.99. That is the market a plumbing marketing agency is supposed to win for you. The problem is most of these agencies serve every trade from HVAC to roofing, and only a few have actually run a plumbing account with real call-tracking numbers to show for it.

We checked 9 agencies against their own websites and Clutch profiles for published pricing, plumbing-specific results, and contract terms. Three quick picks before the full list: if you want a plumbing-only specialist, Plumbing Webmasters has run plumbing SEO for 16+ years and nothing else. If you want published, no-discovery-call pricing, Thrive Internet Marketing Agency's Clutch profile lists a $1,000 minimum project and plans starting near $500 a month. If you want a home-services-only shop built after 2020 with no legacy baggage, Rival Digital serves plumbing, HVAC, and electrical exclusively and nothing outside the trades.

A few numbers worth knowing before you call anyone: Angi charges roughly $15 to $85 per shared lead per the LeadTruffle 2026 contractor guide, Google Local Services Ads average $57 per plumbing lead across 230 sampled accounts per isolinegrowth's 2026 cost guide, and 47% of consumers won't call a business with fewer than 20 reviews per BrightLocal's 2026 survey. Those three numbers decide most of what an agency should be doing for you before it ever touches your Google Ads account.

Key takeaways: plumbing marketing agencies

  • ✓Plumbing-only specialist: Plumbing Webmasters, 16+ years serving plumbers exclusively, month-to-month agreements, proprietary DataPins reputation tool.
  • ✓Published, no-call pricing: Thrive Internet Marketing Agency, Clutch minimum project $1,000, plans from roughly $500/mo.
  • ✓Home-services-only, newer shop: Rival Digital, founded 2020, exclusively HVAC, plumbing, electrical and related trades.
  • ✓Enterprise scale: Scorpion and WebFX both run hundreds of plumbing/home-services accounts with proprietary ad-tech and call-tracking platforms.
  • ✓Canada-serving: SearchKings, Toronto-based since 2009, 5,000+ customers across North America including at least one named plumbing client.

Rival serves home-service contractors exclusively, naming plumbing, HVAC, electrical, garage doors, roofing, pest control, irrigation, and restoration as its only industries. The agency has won multiple Gold W3 Awards for website design, and Thomas was named to the ACHR News Top 40 Under 40 in 2023.

Rival does not publish a pricing table; engagements are scoped per client. The agency also publishes a book, “The HOME Advantage,” and co-hosts The TradeMarke Podcast, both cited on its own site as part of its home-services specialization.

Zio Advertising

Kelowna, BC • Owner-led • Serves US & Canada

That's Us

Full disclosure: Zio Advertising publishes this page, and we have never had a plumbing client. We are not a plumbing specialist like Plumbing Webmasters or Rival Digital, and we will say so on a call. Our trades experience is real but outside plumbing: OKGN Concrete (leads tripled, page-one rankings in 90 days), Koala Coats Painting (65+ keyword rankings, 98/100 PageSpeed), and Okanagan Patio Covers (756% new-user growth year over year). We also currently run Google Ads for KingTek Tree Services.

We are owner-led (Giuseppe Gaspari), based in Kelowna, BC, and work with clients across the US and Canada, month-to-month, no long-term contract, scoped on a short intro call. If you want a plumbing-only specialist with plumbing case studies, or you run a multi-location franchise, one of the nine agencies above is a better starting point than us.

What Plumbing Marketing Agencies Actually Do

Strip away the sales language and a plumbing marketing engagement comes down to six things. Here is what each one should actually look like, with the numbers that tell you whether it is working.

1. Local Services Ads (Google Guaranteed)

Google's own Local Services Ads help page confirms you pay only for a valid lead, which it defines as an answered call, a missed call lasting 20 seconds or more during business hours, a text or email message, a voicemail, or a booking request. There is no charge for the click itself. A third-party 2026 cost guide from isolinegrowth.com, sampling 230 accounts and $2.03M in ad spend, put the average cost per plumbing lead at $57, ranging from $20-$45 in small markets to $70-$120+ in major metros.

2. Google Ads for emergency and planned searches

“Emergency plumber” carries a top-of-page bid of $34.19 to $153.99 and gets 90,500 monthly searches in the US, per Google's Keyword Planner (October 2026). LocaliQ's 2026 search advertising benchmarks put the average cost per lead for the broader Home & Home Improvement category at $90.92, against a conversion rate of 8.05% and an all-industry average cost per click of just $5.42, showing how much more expensive the home-services click is.

3. Local SEO and Google Business Profile

Most plumbing searches have a “near me” qualifier, from “plumber near me” (823,000/mo US) down to “sump pump installer near me” (1,900/mo). Local SEO puts your Google Business Profile, service-area pages, and citations in front of those searches without paying per click. Most agencies quote 3 to 6 months before rankings move, per Hook Agency and Plumbing Webmasters' own published timelines, and 6 to 9 months before ROI shows up clearly.

4. Review generation

BrightLocal's 2026 Local Consumer Review Survey found 97% of consumers now read reviews for local businesses, 41% always read them (up from 29% the prior year), and 47% will not use a business with fewer than 20 reviews. The bar for stars is also rising: 31% of consumers now only consider businesses rated 4.5 stars or higher, up from 17%. An agency's review-generation system (Plumbing Webmasters' DataPins, Scorpion's Reputation AI, Comrade's reputation engine) usually runs before or alongside paid ads for exactly this reason.

5. Website and call-to-action design

Invoca's 2026 Home Services Lead Conversion Benchmarks report found that only 52% of calls to home-services businesses actually reach a person, and of marketing-driven calls, 38% turn into leads, with 45% of those leads converting on the call itself. A fast, click-to-call-first website design, which Comrade and Scorpion both build specifically for emergency plumbing traffic, exists to close that 48% gap where calls never connect.

6. Call tracking and lead recovery

CallRail's January 2025 SMB benchmarking report, based on 1.1M leads, found a 14% missed-call rate for home services businesses, lower than healthcare (32%) or legal (28%) but still meaningful. Blue Corona's own Lead Recovery case study for client Arctic Air Conditioning recovered 29% of flagged calls and booked 100 additional jobs over a year, a 14:1 return on the recovery service alone.

Buying Leads vs. Building Them

A plumber has two basic options: buy leads from a marketplace that also sells them to your competitors, or build your own pipeline through SEO, Google Ads, and reviews that you own. Here is what the marketplaces actually cost, per their own pages and the 2026 third-party guides that track them.

Lead SourceModelTypical CostShared or Exclusive
Angi LeadsPay-per-matched-lead, ~$300/yr membership$15-$85/lead (contractor-reported)Shared among 3-8 pros
ThumbtackNo membership fee, pay-per-lead or per-reply$45-$120/lead for plumbing (third-party)You set the price via a slider
Google Local Services AdsPay only for a valid lead (Google's own policy)~$57/lead average (isolinegrowth 2026, 230 accounts)Exclusive to you once booked
NetworxPay-as-you-go, ~$150-$300 refundable depositExclusive leads 20-50% more than sharedShared (up to 4 pros) or exclusive
PorchPay-per-lead, or ~$360/yr “Vetted Pro” membership$10-$155/lead by project sizeShared

Comrade Digital Marketing's own site puts a number on the difference: leads a plumber owns through SEO and Google Maps convert roughly 8 times better than shared marketplace leads, at 60-70% lower cost per booked job. The trade-off is time. A marketplace lead starts the day you sign up; a plumber shifting from Angi to owned SEO should expect the 3-to-6-month ranking timeline most agencies on this list publish.

Emergency vs. Planned Plumbing Demand

Every plumbing marketing budget has to split between two completely different kinds of searches. Emergency searches want someone in 20 minutes; planned-job searches are comparison shopping. Here is the actual US demand, per Google's Keyword Planner (October 2026).

KeywordUS Searches/moTop-of-Page Bid
plumber near me823,000$17.11-$115.26
emergency plumber near me135,000$28.01-$147.30
drain cleaning near me110,000$20.20-$109.21
emergency plumber90,500$34.19-$153.99
water heater repair near me90,500$16.85-$119.40
24 hour plumber near me60,500$30.93-$139.99
water heater replacement cost40,500$4.20-$33.11

Notice the pattern: every “emergency” or “24 hour” term carries a top bid above $138, while a research-intent term like “water heater replacement cost” tops out at $33.11. Homeowners researching a cost are not ready to call yet; homeowners typing “emergency” are about to call whoever answers first.

Canada runs the same pattern at lower volume. “Emergency plumber” gets 6,600 searches a month with a $7.92-$49.20 bid range, and the broader “plumber near me” term (as “plumb near me”) gets 49,500 searches at $4.66-$40.03, both per Google's Keyword Planner Canada data. “plumbing marketing agency” itself gets searched 720 times a month in the US and 30 times a month in Canada, which tells you how small the agency-shopping pool is compared to the actual customer-shopping pool.

How to Choose an Agency

Four questions separate a plumbing-ready agency from a generalist that will learn on your dime.

1. Can they show a plumbing client, by name, with a number?

Scorpion names Ben's ProServ at a 15x ROI and AllStar Plumbing at 32x. Plumbing Webmasters names Steve's Waterworks Plumbing at nearly 3x revenue in 7 months. Thrive names Plano Plumbing and Leak Detection at 24.6 leads a month. If an agency can only point to a generic “home services” case study with the client name redacted, keep asking.

2. What is the actual contract length?

Scorpion's own FAQ states a 12-month term for SEO and marketing technology. Blue Corona, Plumbing Webmasters, and Hook Agency all advertise no long-term contract. Neither is automatically wrong, but you should know which one you are signing before the call ends.

3. Are leads exclusive, or shared with another plumber?

Angi leads are shared among 3 to 8 competing pros per LeadTruffle's 2026 guide; Networx shared leads go to up to 4 contractors. Anything built through your own Google Business Profile, website, and Local Services Ads account is exclusive to you by definition. Ask the agency which model your money is funding.

4. Who owns the Google Analytics and ad accounts if you leave?

Scorpion's own FAQ confirms clients keep Google Analytics, Local Services Ads, social accounts, and website content on exit. Blue Corona makes the same promise. If an agency cannot answer this in one sentence, that is itself an answer.

Red Flags When Hiring

Five warning signs that apply just as much to plumbing marketing as they do to any home-services vertical.

1

A 12-month contract with no exit clause

A 12-month SEO term, like Scorpion's own stated terms, is common and not itself a red flag. A 12-month term for everything, including ad management, with no way out if results stall, is.

2

They won't say if your leads are shared

Angi and Networx are upfront that shared leads go to 3-8 or up to 4 competing pros. A marketing agency reselling a marketplace feed without disclosing the split is a different problem entirely.

3

They own your website and ad accounts

Scorpion and Blue Corona both publish exit-ownership policies. If an agency builds everything on accounts you don't control, you lose your Google Business Profile history, your ad data, and your reviews the day you leave.

4

No call tracking

CallRail's Jan 2025 data shows a 14% missed-call rate in home services. Without call tracking, an agency literally cannot tell you how many of your leads never got answered, let alone fix it.

5

They report clicks and impressions, not booked jobs

A 32x ROI claim, like Scorpion's AllStar Plumbing case study, only means something if it is tied to booked revenue. Ask for cost per booked job, not cost per lead, in every monthly report.

Questions about plumbing marketing agencies

How much do plumbing marketing agencies charge?

Published figures vary widely. Thrive Internet Marketing Agency's Clutch profile lists a minimum project size of $1,000 and pricing starting around $500 a month. Comrade Digital Marketing's plumbing package starts at $4,000 a month, scoped for plumbers doing $1M+ a year. WebFX publishes per-channel pricing: local SEO from $575 a month, PPC management from $750 a month. Hook Agency and Comrade's Clutch profiles list minimum project sizes of $25,000 and $10,000. Ad spend is almost always separate from the management fee.

Is Angi worth it for plumbers?

Angi charges per matched lead, typically $15 to $85 per the HookAgency/LeadTruffle 2026 contractor guide, shared among 3 to 8 competing plumbers, with a roughly $300 a year membership fee and 12-month contracts carrying a 30-35% early-cancellation penalty. The trade-off is you're bidding against other plumbers for the same homeowner. Comrade Digital Marketing's own data claims leads a plumber owns through SEO and Google Maps convert 8 times better than shared marketplace leads, at 60-70% less per booked job.

Local Services Ads or Google Ads for plumbers, which comes first?

Google's own Local Services Ads help page confirms you only pay for a valid lead (an answered or 20-second-plus missed call, a message, or a booking), never for a click. A third-party guide from isolinegrowth.com (2026) put average LSA cost per lead for plumbers at $57 across 230 sampled accounts, ranging $20-$45 in small markets to $70-$120+ in major metros. Most agencies, including Comrade and Scorpion, run LSAs for emergency volume and standard Google Ads or SEO for planned, higher-ticket jobs like repipes.

How many Google reviews does a plumber need?

BrightLocal's 2026 Local Consumer Review Survey found 47% of consumers won't use a business with fewer than 20 reviews, and 31% now only consider businesses rated 4.5 stars or higher, up from 17% a year earlier. Scorpion's plumbing case studies show clients citing 4.6+ star targets as the threshold agencies build toward. If your profile is under 20 reviews, a review-generation push usually comes before any paid ad spend.

How fast do plumbing ads start producing calls?

Google Ads and Local Services Ads typically generate calls within days to two weeks of launch, per Comrade Digital Marketing's own stated timeline (7-14 days). SEO moves slower: Hook Agency tells clients to expect 3 to 6 months before rankings move and 6 to 9 months before ROI shows up clearly, which matches Plumbing Webmasters' stated 3-6 month SEO timeline. Emergency search volume is immediate; a 'plumber near me' search gets 823,000 monthly searches in the US per Google's Keyword Planner (October 2026), so paid visibility shows up the day a campaign goes live.

What's the difference between marketing for emergency calls and planned jobs?

Emergency searches like "emergency plumber" (90,500/mo US, Keyword Planner top-of-page bid $34.19-$153.99) convert on speed: Local Services Ads and a fast click-to-call site. Planned, high-ticket jobs like a whole-home repipe, which cost around $7,500 on average per Angi's cost guide (range $1,500-$15,000), convert on trust: SEO content, reviews, and financing information. Comrade Digital Marketing builds separate funnels for each; agencies that only run one usually miss the other.

Do I need a plumbing-specific agency, or will a general home-services agency work?

A specialist like Plumbing Webmasters (plumbing only, 16+ years per their own site) or Rival Digital (home-services exclusive since 2020) already has plumbing-specific landing pages, review templates, and LSA category knowledge built. A full-service agency like WebFX or Thrive can still do the job well, since both publish plumbing case studies and dedicated plumbing teams, but confirm they have run actual plumbing accounts, not just HVAC or roofing, before signing.

What should I ask before signing a plumbing marketing contract?

Ask the contract length (Scorpion's own FAQ confirms a typical 12-month term for SEO and marketing technology, with digital advertising on month-to-month terms), who owns the website and ad accounts after you leave, and whether leads are exclusive or shared. Blue Corona and Plumbing Webmasters both advertise no long-term contracts as a differentiator. If an agency can't say in one sentence who keeps the Google Analytics access when you part ways, that's your answer.

Is Zio Advertising a plumbing marketing agency?

No. Zio Advertising has never had a plumbing client. Our trades experience is OKGN Concrete (leads tripled, page-one rankings in 90 days), Koala Coats Painting (65+ keyword rankings, 98/100 PageSpeed), and Okanagan Patio Covers (756% new-user growth year over year), plus a current Google Ads engagement with KingTek Tree Services. If you want a specialist with plumbing case studies, pick one of the 9 agencies above instead.

What does "cost per lead" actually mean for a plumbing company?

Cost per lead is your total marketing spend divided by the number of qualified contacts (calls, forms, or bookings) it produced, not the number of clicks. LocaliQ's 2026 search advertising benchmarks put the average Google Ads cost per lead for the Home & Home Improvement category at $90.92, against an all-industry average of $5.42 cost per click. A plumber comparing agencies should ask for cost per booked job, not cost per lead. A single $1,200-$1,800 water heater install, the Modernize 2026 average job range, covers most agencies' monthly minimum.

Making Your Decision

823,000 people a month search “plumber near me” in the US alone, and that demand is not evenly split: emergency searches pay a $138-plus top bid, planned-job research searches pay under $35. The nine agencies above split roughly into three camps: plumbing-only specialists (Plumbing Webmasters, Rival Digital), enterprise ad-tech platforms (Scorpion, WebFX), and published-pricing generalists (Thrive, Comrade, Blue Corona, Hook Agency, SearchKings for Canada).

Pick based on what you actually need, not the biggest case-study number. A single-location plumber doing under $1M a year will not fit Comrade's $4,000/mo minimum or Hook Agency's $2M+ revenue threshold, but might fit Thrive's published $1,000 minimum or Plumbing Webmasters' flat monthly fee. A multi-location plumber chasing Local Services Ads volume has more reason to look at Scorpion's partner-badge stack.

If none of the nine fit and you want a second read on your current marketing from someone who will tell you plainly whether you need a specialist, talk to us at Zio. We have no plumbing case study to sell you, which means we have no reason to oversell the fit.
